TEAM TAKES IT TO THE HOUSE ALL NIGHT It was a battle between quarterbacks during the Rec Championship game with what would be one of the highest scoring of the night. From the very beginning, Michael Harris proved to have trust in his brother, Andrew, by connecting with him on the first two touchdowns for Run 'n Gun. But Jon Breines of All Night would fight back silently during the first half and work his team down the field to respond to both of Run 'n Gun's scores and putting faith in his receiver Austin Mayland with both of the touchdowns. With a great defensive effort by Run 'n Gun to deny an extra point, the teams enter half time with a Run 'n Gun lead of 14-13. Continuing into the second half, the quarterbacks continued to duel when Harris threw a beautifully placed ball into the back corner of the end zone, which was caught by his receiver Kevin Nicola to have Run 'n Gun go up 27-20 with under four minutes left in the game. But it was Breines who would return the show by throwing a 21 yard pass to Johnny Brooks for a first down. All Night would score in that series and shut down Run 'n Gun for the rest of the game, enabling them to win 34-27. COMP GAME AN INCREDIBLE SHOW Lightning almost struck twice against the Incredibles during the Comp Championship as Phi Delt jumped out to an early 9-0 lead with a safety by Ian Stecher and touchdown by Matt Bates. The Incredibles misfortune would soon change as Drew Hill returned an interception for a touchdown. At the beginning of the second half, John Boyle, of the Incredibles, would break a 15-15 tie with an "Ocho Cinco" esque touchdown and extra point grab. Adam Benna would match the score for Phi Delt, but Drew Hill, in true All-American fashion would seal the win 29-22 with a touchdown and interception capping off another fantastic Intramural 4 on 4 season. FOUR ACES ELIMINATE THE ELIMINATORS In the Women’s 4-4 Flag Football Championship, the Four Aces scored on the first play of the game and never looked back against the Eliminators en route to a very convincing 39-0 championship game victory. The Eliminators reached the championship game by defeating TEAM AMERICA 13-12 in a thrilling semi-final game. FLAG FOOTBALL OVERTIME PROCEDURES SECTION 3. TIE GAME (POSTSEASON TOURNAMENT ONLY) ART. 1…Mandatory Meeting. If a postseason tournament game ends with a tie score, the officials must bring all players and coaches of both teams to the center of the field. They will discuss the tie breaker procedures and answer all questions prior to the coin toss. After this meeting the captains will stay while the remaining players and coaches return to their respective team box. ART. 2…Coin Toss. A coin will be flipped by the Referee to determine the options as in the start of the game. The team captain which did not call the toss at the beginning of the game shall call the overtime coin toss. There will only be one coin toss during overtime. If additional overtime periods are played, captains will alternate choices. The winner of the toss shall be given options of offense, defense, or direction. The loser of the toss shall make a choice of the remaining options. ALL OVERTIME PERIODS ARE PLAYED TOWARD THE SAME GOAL LINE. ART. 3…Tie Breaker. Each team will attempt to score by passing from the 3 yard line for 1 point, from the 10 yard line for 2 points or from the 20 yard line for 3 points. If the defense intercepts a pass or fumble and returns it for 3 points, the game is over and the defense wins. ART. 4…Fouls and Penalties. They are administered similar to the regular game. Dead ball fouls following a successful Try and live ball fouls following a change of possession will be penalized from the succeeding spot. FLAG FOOTBALL BRACKETS RELEASED The 2009 Summer 4 on 4 Flag Football brackets have now been released. Remember that no team can add new players to their roster during the post-season tournament. TOURNAMENT DEADLINE APPROACHING Thursday, June 25th is the deadline for all teams to ensure their spot in the post-season tournament. Please make sure that you have added any eligible players to your roster, paid any forfeit fees your team may have, and put in requests to change divisions if desired by this date. Also, if you know that your team will be unavailable for the tournament you need to inform the League Coordinator of this by Thursday, June 25th to ensure that you are not included in the playoff bracket. WEATHER PLAYS ROLE IN FIRST WEEK Central Florida is the lightning capital of the country, and we advise all Intramural participants during these summer months to take extra precaution. RWC Park is equipped with the Thorguard Lightning Warning system, which helps identify when there is lightning in the area. Summer in Orlando is a busy time for Thorguard, so when you hear a long blast of the horn - you must evacuate the fields immediately and seek appropriate shelter (your car, or a building only). Park staff will evacuate immediately and will warn you to do the same. Three blasts of the horn will signify when it is "all clear" and you are able to return. As always, you can call 407-823-0999 to hear updated information on weather delays. Please do not take this lightly, as your safety is paramount to participation. 4 ON 4 FLAG FOOTBALL SCHEDULE POSTED The Summer 4 on 4 Flag Football schedule is now posted online. Games begin on Wednesday, June 3rd to kick off the five week season! Please remember to bring your UCF student ID in order to play and arrive early to ensure you are there before game time.
